Joysetta Pearse, CG, a resident of Freeport, has been elected president of the Genealogy Federation of Long Island (GFLI). Joysetta is one of only 15 Board certified genealogists currently listed on the New York State roster. The Federation is comprised of 14 Long Island-based genealogy organizations that assist researchers in tracing specific ethnic or geographic origins, and the use of computers.
The Federation presents genealogy programs at local libraries and hosts an annual Genealogy Seminar. The 2006 Seminar will be held on April 8, at Stony Brook University, and features noted historian and genealogist, Tony Burroughs and DNA expert, Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak.
