The following is an announcement from the Maine Genealogical Society:
Maine Genealogical Society (MGS) announces that their 30th Anniversary Conference will be held at Verrillo’s Convention Center in Portland, Maine, on Saturday, October 14, 2006.
Concurrent sessions throughout the day focus on a variety of topics for all levels of experience; such as military and pension files, property deeds, courthouse records, loyalist research, Canadian border crossings, gravestone care, and more. All sessions are led by experienced and knowledgeable genealogists.
MGS is pleased to once again offer a beginner’s track at this conference. If you are new to genealogy, this series of 3 sessions will cover all of the basics necessary to ensure that you start your research on the right path.
A variety of vendors and exhibitors will also be present at the conference, providing books and other resources of interest to genealogists.
Additional information regarding the conference is available at the conference website at www.maineroots.org or by calling Dale Mower, conference chair, at (207) 942-9375. Seating is limited and the deadline for early registration is August 31, 2006.
MGS was founded in 1976 to collect, exchange, preserve and publish genealogical records, related documents and information; and to promote and encourage interest and scholarship in genealogy and family history in the State of Maine.
