A Worldwide (TM), which became the new name for Junior Achievement in 2004, established a museum and archives to collect and preserve its corporate genealogy and history. The JA Pioneers Archives Committee, established in 2002, created the Museum of Junior Achievement History to develop a permanent archives collection at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis and to continue the written history of the organization. The organization also has a photo and artifact collection on display at its headquarters in Colorado Springs.
Junior Achievement has been around since 1919, but much of its history was maintained on the local level. Local and regional offices opened, closed, and merged along the way, such that some historical items and information may be hiding away in a box in someone's attic.
The JA Pioneers Museum & Archives would like to hear from individuals who have photos, student-created items, documents (especially student company annual reports), yearbooks, jewelry, jackets/hats/ties, or any other material that relates to the organization's history on a local, regional, or national level.
The telephone number for JA is 1-800-843-6395. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain
