The following announcement was written by the USF Africana Heritage Project:
The USF Africana Heritage Project, an all-volunteer research project of the Africana Studies department at the University of South Florida, invites readers to enjoy two special gifts for the holidays.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu has shared a message of peace for the holidays, and legendary reggae recording artists Morgan Heritage have shared their song "Freedom" to accompany Reverend Tutu's message of peace and joy.
Readers may enjoy both gifts by visiting the free USF Africana Heritage Project website at www.africanaheritage.com
The Africana Heritage Project's mission is to rediscover and share records of African American genealogy and history on their free Internet site.
Belief in the singular importance of African American heritage drives the Africana Heritage Project's volunteers and reader-contributors to build a fully searchable archive of historical documents (now more than 4,000 documents and growing!) that name slaves, freedpersons and their descendants, to assist those researching African American genealogy, history and culture.
Archbishop emeritus Desmond Tutu has shared an excerpt of his book "God Has a Plan: A Vision of Hope for Our Time." Reggae group Morgan Heritage have shared the song "Freedom," a simple and profound message of peace that speaks to all hearts.
