Deborah Brezina, author of a biography on Winston Churchill, will discuss the life and contributions of the famous statesman at a Brown Bag Lecture at the East Tennessee Historical Society at noon, Wednesday, March 14. Ms. Brezina is the author of The Spirit of Churchill in which she passionately recounts Churchill’s role as a statesman and leader during the dark days of World War II and draws analogies between the challenges of that era and those facing the world today.
A native of Texas and now a resident of Knoxville, Deborah Brezina has debated at various universities and appeared on national television, including The Oprah Winfrey Show. A member of the East Tennessee Historical Society Board of Directors, she is on the faculty of Summit Ministries, serves on the Board of Trustees of the President James Monroe Memorial Foundation, and is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge University, England.
The lecture is free and open to the public and will be at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay Street (across from the Tennessee Theatre) in downtown Knoxville. Soft drinks will be available. For more information, contact ETHS at 865-215-8824.
