Books that Changed the Course of History
Is it possible that books have influenced the course of American history? On June 13, Dr. Charles F. Bryan, president and CEO of the Virginia Historical Society, will be at the East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) to discuss twelve books that have had a long-term affect on public opinion, on the action of government leaders, or on the way people did things in America.
Executive director of ETHS from 1982-1986, Dr. Bryan now heads one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious historical organizations. His talk is the latest in a series of the monthly Brown Bag Lectures at the East Tennessee Historical Society.
Free and open to the public, the lecture begins at noon at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay St. For more information, call 865-215-8824 or visit www.east-tennessee-history.org.
